  • 196 Lancers named to MASCAC Fall/Winter All-Academic Team

    Westfield, MA — A total of 1,390 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s Fall/Winter 2023 All-Academic team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.
  • Worcester State Men's Soccer Names Adam Howarth as Head Coach

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Athletic Department, led by Athletic Director Michael Mudd, is pleased to announce the hiring of Adam Howarth as the new Men’s Soccer Head Coach. Howarth will serve as the 16th head coach in the program’s 55 storied year history and will take over for Aidan Abolfazli who led the team to a 2022 MASCAC Championship and NCAA first round appearance.

  • Three Named to Men's Soccer MASCAC All-Conference

    Worcester, MA- Senior Matthew Alzamora (Holden, MA) leads the Worcester State Men’s Soccer team in this years MASCAC All-Conference Awards voted on at the end of the season by the conference coaches. Two other teammates joined Alzamora, junior Declan Ryder (Worcester, MA) and sophomore Brendan Lower (Grafton, MA) as All Conference selections.
  • Lancers Drop Overtime Tilt to Rams

    Worcester, Mass. – The fifth seeded Worcester State Lancers took fourth seeded Framingham State to overtime in their MASCAC quarterfinal bid Tuesday night at Maple Street Field. The Lancers were looking to repeat as MASCAC Champions but ultimately fell to the Rams 3-1 in OT.
  • Lancers Shutout Buccaneers in MASCAC Regular Season Finale

    Worcester, MA- It was a Friday night full moon game at the Clean Harbors Stadium in a conference matchup between the Mass Maritime Buccaneers and the Worcester State University Lancers. This game was an essential game for the Lancers to come away with either a tie or the victory to secure their postseason dreams and Worcester State was set to guarantee another MASCAC postseason appearance. 
  • Lancers Fall in Non-Conference Battle to Keene State

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Soccer team travelled to Keene, NH in the second to last regular season match up of the season. The Lancers looked to wrap up their non-conference schedule with one last win before heading into their conference finale on Friday.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (4-5-4, 2-3 MASCAC) kicked off a crucial conference matchup against the Salem State Vikings (9-3-3, 4-1 MASCAC) on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

    Worcester, MA- After a massive conference victory at Framingham State the past weekend, the Worcester State Men’s soccer team took a trip down to Rhode Island College for a mid-week non-conference matchup. 
  • Soccer Shuts Out Rams in MASCAC Victory

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Soccer team returned to the field Saturday morning, as they traveled to Framingham State to battle the Rams in a MASCAC showdown. The Lancers look to get back in the win column after a 1-1 tie earlier this week against Springfield College.
  • Second Half Action Finds Breakaway Goal Off Bayonne's Boot

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State men’s soccer team was back in action Tuesday evening as they look to get back in the win column against Springfield College. The Lancers are coming off a 1-0 defeat Saturday at home against MCLA. 
  • Lancers Drop Battle to Trailblazers in MASCAC Battle

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Soccer team hosted MCLA for their fourth conference game of the season Saturday afternoon. The last time the two faced each other was in last season’s quarterfinals, where Worcester won 3-0. The Lancers looked to repeat tonight in a gap of rain showers on John F. Coughlin Field. This afternoon’s game was also played in support of the Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund. The Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund was created by alumni couple Greg Rosen 86' and Pam Rosen 87', which provides robust programming that supports peer-to-peer education regarding early cancer detection.
  • Teamwork Dominates the Day as Lancers Grab Victory From Cougars

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Soccer game returned to action Tuesday night after grabbing their first win of the season versus Fitchburg State on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers looked to continue their win streak against their cross town rivals, the Clark University Cougars.

    Worcester MA - The Worcester State Men’s Soccer team was looking for their first win of the season as they hosted MASCAC rival Fitchburg State on John F. Coughlin field this afternoon. The questionable weather of the week held off to leave the match chilly but clear on the field as each team battled for the advantage in the game.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers hosted the Curry College Colonels in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday night. The Lancers were looking to grab their first win before returning to conference action this weekend.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers bussed down to Bridgewater State for the first MASCAC game of the season to face off against the Bears in hopes of defending their title from last season. They will enter a challenging away stretch nearing ten days against four teams with one other MASCAC game matchup set against Westfield St.
  • Lancers Stumble in Second Half to Beacons

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State men’s soccer team was back in action Wednesday afternoon as they traveled to Boston for a matchup against the UMass-Boston Beacons. The Lancers are coming off a 1-1 tie last Wednesday against the Husson Eagles and look to get in the win column for the first time in the 2023 season against UMass Boston.
  • Lancers, Eagles Play to 1-1 Stale Mate

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Soccer team returned to action tonight on Coughlin Field when they hosted Husson University in the second match of the season. The Lancers opened their season similar to last year with a 1-1 tie versus WPI and looked to change the tune tonight as they took on the Eagles.
  • Lancers Begin Season With Comeback Tie versus Engineers

    Worcester, MA- The 2022 MASCAC Champions open up their 2023 season hosting WPI on Coughlin Field in a Friday Night Battle under the lights. The last match up with the Engineers saw each team come away with a goal a piece, and while the Lancers were content to take the tie, tonight they headed into the game looking to put an immediate mark on their season.
  • Men's Soccer Tabbed #1 in MASCAC Coaches Preseason Poll

    Worcester, MA- 2022 MASCAC Tournament Champion Worcester State was selected by the coaches from around the league to win the 2023 MASCAC Men’s Soccer title in this year’s preseason poll. Worcester State defeated Bridgewater State in penalty kicks to advance to the NCAA tournament.
  • Men's Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule
    Worcester, MA- Head Coach Aidan Abolfazli announces the release of the 2023 schedule of the MASCAC Champion Worcester State Men’s Soccer team. The 2023 season will be the third season for Abolfazli, who led the third seeded Lancers to the MASCAC Championship last season, where they defeated the fourth seeded Bridgewater State in penalty kicks to bring home the championship and NCAA bid. The 2023 season will look to continue the success of last year as they bid to return to the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row. The team will be aided in their quest by MASCAC Champion MVP Andy Ramirez, conference First Team All-Conference selection Manny Ramirez and dominant junior forward Mal Hawkins along with a breath of talent in not only their returners, but incoming additions to the program.
