  • 150 Student-Athletes Named to MASCAC Winter/Spring MASCAC All-Academic Team

    Westfield, MA — A total of 906 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s 2023 Winter/Spring All-Academic Team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.
  • Seven Named to MASCAC All-Conference Softball Teams

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball team has seven named to this years MASCAC All-Conference teams voted on by the association?s coaches. The selections were led by first team honorees senior Jen Thorburn (Groton, MA), sophomore Abigail Koziol (Luneburg, MA) and first year Bella Gasbarro (Leominster, MA).
  • Lancers Fall in MASCAC Semifinals to Owls

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball team returned to action Saturday afternoon looking to avoid elimination and advance to the MASCAC Championship. The Lancers dropped the opening game of the double elimination tournament yesterday afternoon when they dropped a 3-2 battle in the seventh inning to the Bridgewater State Bears. In a bid to remain in the tournament, Worcester opened up their day versus the Westfield State Owls who lost in a five inning battle the previous day to tournament hosts Framingham State 8-0.
  • Lancers Drop Opening Game of MASCAC Quarterfinals

    Worcester, MA- The #3 Worcester State Softball team travelled to #2 Bridgewater State today for the MASCAC Quarterfinal game against the Bears. The Lancers split the regular season series with the Bears with each team claiming a victory. Worcester looked to grab the first win of the double elimination quarterfinal to take some of the pressure off going into tomorrow’s game with a victory already in hand.
  • Lancers Advance to MASCAC Quarterfinal with Third Straight Victory Over Buccaneers

    Worcester, Mass. - The Worcester State Lancers and the Mass Maritime Buccaneers started their playoff run this afternoon on the campus of Worcester State University for the first round of the MASCAC Tournament. After a clean sweep this past Saturday for the Lancers to grab the #3 seed in the tournament over the #6 Mass Maritime, the game was set to be a grudge match to advance into the next round.

    Worcester, Mass. - On a sunny day to play some Saturday softball with temperatures expected to reach a high of 70 degrees with minimal winds, the Lancers looked to close out their regular season with two big wins over Mass Maritime. The Worcester State games today were played in honor of their seniors who will be playing their final home game in the Blue and Gold. The Lancers came into this contest with a record of 21-16 and a 7-5 in conference record.

    Worcester, Mass. - Worcester State Softball returned home for a doubleheader against Gordon College Tuesday afternoon. The Lancers came back in game two to split the series with the Scots.

    WORCESTER, MA- Coming off of a thrilling walk off victory and a split to Nichols college, the Lancers went on the road for a double header against Framingham State on their Senior Day.

  • Bartlett Grabs 300th Career K as Lancers Come Away 1-1 in Matchup with the Falcons

    Worcester, MA- The Lancers made their way to conference rivals Fitchburg State with the Falcons and the Lancers only being separated by a 30-minute drive, making them geographically the closest out of all the MASCAC teams. This double-header would see the first pitches thrown at 3 and 5 o'clock in the afternoon respectively. 
  • Lancers Salvage Series Split With Big Comeback In Game One

    Westfield, MA - The Lancers (17-9, 4-0) traveled to Westfield for MASCAC doubleheader play against the Westfield State Owls (16-6, 4-0). Both teams are undefeated in conference play this season and the Lancers will look to make it stay that way for them. 
  • Pitching, Pitching and... Pitching!

    Division III, New England baseball and softball usually come down to one thing. Pitching. While offense may win games, pitching and defense most definitely wins championships. Lancers baseball and softball headed into the 2023 season with some key pieces returning from prior years. Now, as both squads find themselves about half way through their 40-game campaign, a look into the pitching performances of the Lancers may just tell us how baseball and softball may do down the homestretch.
  • Lancers Split a Pair of Nail-Biters at Rhode Island College

    Worcester, MA- The Lancers headed into this evening’s double header at Rhode Island College riding a six-game win streak. Not having played since this past Saturday, Worcester State battled through a hard-fought couple of games. By the end of the night they came away with one of two, bringing their record to 17-9

    Worcester, MA- The Lancers (14-8)(2-0) traveled to North Adams to play the MCLA Trailblazers (6-12)(0-2) for a double-header of MASCAC games as the Lancers put in the effort to try and stay undefeated in conference play.

  • Lancers Down Vikings in Double Game Set in Pink Out Game to Open MASCAC Play

    Worcester, MA- The April 2nd Pink Out Game for the Lancers saw the second home game and the first in a conference clash between the Worcester State Lancers and the Salem State Vikings. Both teams came into this clash looking to win at least one game in the 2 game series. The first match began at 1 in the afternoon with winds that could help carry a ball and a cool temperature was the environment.

    Worcester, MA- After winning their two games against Clark University last night it was a quick turnaround for the Lancers as they took a trip down the road to face off against WPI.  They were looking to continue their momentum from the previous games and continue their winning streak.
  • Lancers Claim Two off Cougars in Home Opener

    Worcester, MA- The Lancers (8-6) took on Clark University (3-10) in a doubleheader in a city of Worcester showdown. They look to bounce back after a four-game losing streak since returning from Myrtle Beach. 
  • Lancers Drop Set to the Pride

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State bats were as cold as the temperatures outside, getting swept at Springfield College today by the scores of 4-2 and 9-2. The Lancers have dropped 4 in a row, all since returning from sunny and warm South Carolina, for an overall record of 8-6. It doesn't get any easier for WSU as they get right back at it with 4:00 double-headers on Tuesday (home opener) and Wednesday against cross-town rivals Clark on 3/28 and at 2022 College World Series participant WPI on 3/29.
  • Lancers Drop Set to Lasell

    Worcester, MA- The Lancer softball team took the field today for their first action since going 8-2 over spring break. They traveled to Lasell University for a Tuesday doubleheader, and though they showed promise in both games, were unable to come up with a win on the day. 
  • Lancers Make it 8 Wins on Spring Break Trip

    North Myrtle Beach, SC- The Worcester State Softball matched up in their final two games on a windy St. Patrick’s Day at the FastPitch Dream Softball Tournament. Game one saw the Lancers square up with the Castleton State Spartans, while game two later at night had them taking the field versus Albertus Magnus College.
  • Lancers Softball Extend Win Streak to Four
    March 14, 2023
    North Myrtle Beach, SC- The Worcester State University softball team continued its torrid spring trip with two wins today in the Fast Pitch Dream Tournament. Game 1 versus Muhlenberg saw a 7-5, 8-inning victory then a 7-0 shutout over Franciscan in Game 2. The Lancers are now 5-1 on the season and ride a 4-game winning streak.
  • Lancers Make a Clean Sweep of Day 2 of Spring Break
    March 12, 2023
    North Myrtle Beach, SC- The Worcester State Softball took on day two of their season with matchups versus two Pennsylvania softball powers in Susquehanna University, who are the reigning Landmark Champions and Wilson College. The Lancers were looking to come away from the morning with two more wins in their pocket. Their first tilt versus Susquehanna, the Lancers came away with a big 12-9 victory and followed it up with a 5-inning 10-2 win over Wilson College.  
  • Worcester State Softball Split Opening Day of 2023 Season
    March 11, 2023
    North Myrtle Beach, SC- The Worcester State Softball team launched their 2023 campaign in strong fashion Saturday morning, taking on the University of Maine- Farmington in the first games for both programs. The Lancers carried the game in dominant fashion, coming away with the 7-0 win. They followed up that action with an afternoon square up with Spalding University. The teams went swing for swing before a late inning surge by Spalding pushed the game just out of reach with a 7-4 final.
  • 5 Lancers Named to MASCAC Spring Sportsmanship Team
    Worcester, Mass. – Five Worcester State University student-athletes have been honored for their outstanding sportsmanship as members of the 2023 Spring Sportsmanship Teams.
  • THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT: First years Making a Splash the Spring
    This spring, freshmen across the board have been playing key roles on their respective teams. Making the jump from high school to the NCAA can be difficult. For some, there’s an adjustment period where student-athletes have to go through the growing pains, which makes it all the more impressive that these Lancers have been so impactful already. From multiple MASCAC Rookie of the Week awards to game changing plays, here are just some of the student-athletes making their mark in just their first season at the collegiate level.
  • Worcester State Athletics to Compete on Pink Out Day
    On Saturday, April 1, the Worcester State Athletics Department will be hosting its first Rosen Cancer Awareness Pink Out Games with three home games to raise cancer awareness and funding. The baseball, softball and women’s lacrosse games will begin game action at noon and the teams will wear specially designed jerseys. All students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to take part and show their support.
  • Spring Break Sports Spotlight
    Worcester State sent their baseball, softball and lacrosse teams to South Carolina this past week for spring break. The results were overwhelmingly positive, with the three squads going a combined 14-9. Amongst the 23 games, these six student-athletes found a way to stand out with their performances.
