St. Martin Leads Lancers to Fifth MASCAC Victory

Worcester, MA- The Lancers returned home and faced off against Fitchburg State attempting to bounce back from their previous loss Wednesday night.  A team leading 18 points by sophomore Abby St. Martin (Putnam, CT) led the Lancers to a resounding victory.

Worcester State got off to a torrid start scoring 27 in the first quarter behind junior Nyah Thomas' (Attleboro, MA) 11 points in the first quarter and finished the half with 13 shooting 6-9.  The Lancers controlled the pace of play through the first half, refusing to give an inch to the Falcons squad.

St.Martin then took over the second half scoring 10 points finishing with her team leading 18.  Worcester State's defense was stifling as well, forcing 16 steals on Fitchburg State. Every Worcester State team member was in on the action today, grabbing rebounds, dishing passes and driving the Lancers towards their fifth MASCAC victory of the season as the team gets itself ready for a deep postseason run.

This win brings the Lancers record to 9-14 on the season and Fitchburg State drops to 3-20 on the season.

The next game for the Blue & Gold is Senior Night on February 15th vs MCLA.  Tip off is scheduled for 7:30pm at Brissette Court.
