Worcester, MA- For the ninth time this season, the Worcester State Women’s Basketball team has claimed a player in the spot of MASCAC Rookie of the Week. For the second time this season, first year Alana Smith (Chicopee, MA) has taken home the honor.
Smith averaged 10 points, 8.5 rebounds, a steal, assist and a block in a 1-1 week for the Lancers. Scored nine points and added nine rebounds in the 79-50 win over Fitchburg State. Finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in the 99-76 setback to Westfield State.
Teammate, senior Katie Hurynowicz (Tyngsboro, MA), was named to the MASCAC weekly honor roll after averaging 23.5 points, six rebounds, 3.5 steals and three assists in a 1-1 week for the Lancers. Scored 23 points with seven rebounds and four steals in the 79-50 win over Fitchburg State. She collected 24 points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals in the 99-76 setback to Westfield State.
Worcester State returns to action on Wednesday, February 7th, when they travel to Bridgewater State for a 5:30pm start.
