Waldron Named MASCAC Rookie of the Week for Fifth Time

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Basketball team again walked away with rookie of the week honors, claiming their sixth of the season, as first year Lena Waldron was named Rookie of the Week for the 5th time this season.

Waldron averaged 6.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals and an assist in three games for the Lancers. Finished with 10 points, six rebounds and a steal in the 66-55 setback to Bridgewater State.  Had 10 rebounds, three points, three steals and two assists in the 78-64 setback to Westfield State. On the season thus far, Waldron has 141 points, 100 rebounds and 20 steals.

Also being named to the weekly honor roll is senior Katie Hurynowicz (Tyngsboro, MA) who averaged 18.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and three steals in three games for the Lancers. Finished with a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds in the 66-55 setback to Bridgewater State. Had 16 points, six rebounds and four steals in the 78-64 setback to Westfield State. Added another double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in the 70-47 setback to Trinity (Conn.). On the season, Hurynowicz has 261 points, 133 rebounds with 36 steals and 38 assists. She has also recorded 6 double doubles thus far this season.

The Lancers return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Salem State for a 5pm start.
