Worcester, MA- For the second year in a row, junior Aaron Nkrumah (Worcester, MA) has been named to the NABC All-District First Team after claiming the MASCAC Player of the Year and helping to lead the Worcester State Men’s Basketball team to their second MASCAC Championship in a row, and third all-time. Nkrumah ended the year with 561 points, recording his career 1,000th in just two seasons, in the NCAA first round game versus Catholic University, to go along with 231 rebounds, 69 assists and 70 steals on the year.
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Basketball team (18-9, 10-2) returns for their second year of NCAA first round action, taking on the host The Catholic University of America (24-3, 16-2) for a chance to take on Rowan, who won the game earlier in the day. It would be a game of team work and persistence for Worcester as they traveled down to DC to take on the Landmark Champions.
As February comes to a close, it is a great time to look back at the month of February, and its role as Black History Month. Black History Month became federally recognized in 1976 in recognition of the successes of the Civil Rights movements in the 1950s and 60s. Negro Week and other pro-black days of remembrance were the predecessors that laid the ground work for this month of reflection, respect and celebration.
Westfield, Mass. — Junior Aaron Nkrumah of Worcester State and senior Brendon Hamilton of Westfield State are the 2023-24 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player and Defensive Player of the Year and headline the All-Conference team which is voted on by the seven coaches around the conference.
Worcester, MA- After a powerful performance this past week, the Worcester State Men’s Basketball team claimed their first ever Repeat MASCAC Championship, defeating Bridgewater State 80-79 in overtime on Saturday afternoon. Leading the charge all tournament was senior Ryan Rubenskas (Bridgewater, MA) who was named not only the tournament MVP, but this weeks MASCAC Player of the Week.

Fresh off a win against the Framingham State Rams, Worcester looks to add one more win to the column before the playoffs and post season play.

This game marks Worcester State’s senior night, celebrating our Lancer seniors and most importantly, the leaders of the men’s basketball team. Today marked the team’s “Pink Out” game. Worcester State University, the Worcester State Athletics Department, and the Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund have teamed up in a continued bid to raise awareness for cancer detection and research. The Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund, created by alumni couple Gregg Rosen ’86 and Pam Rosen ’87, provides robust programming that supports peer-to-peer education regarding early cancer detection.

Worcester, MA- The Worcester Star Men’s Basketball team (13-8, 7-1) return to action after a thrilling comeback victory last Saturday versus Westfield State. The Lancers looked to grab another win off the Bridgewater State Bears (11-10, 7-2) and extend their lead in the MASCAC as the teams come to the final two weeks of regular season play.

to the league’s Fall/Winter 2023 All-Academic team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.

Worcester, MA- Worcester State Men’s Basketball (9-7, 3-0) returned to MASCAC action this evening after a tight battle with the #6 team in the nation, the Trinity Bantams. The lancers hit the road in their bid to extend their MASCAC success to 16 straight wins with a trip to Salem State (8-6, 2-1) to take on the Vikings.
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (9-6, 3-0 MASCAC) tipped off against the Trinity College Bantams (16-0, 3-0 NESCAC) in a non-conference matchup. Trinity College is currently ranked #6 in the nation and are a great test of skill for the Lancers who matched up against fellow NESCAC opponent Middlebury College in the first round of the NCAA tournament last season.

This game could have major consequences with play off seeding at the end of the season, so securing the win would better place the Lancers in the top spot come February.

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers return back to action in Salem, VA this afternoon in the consolation game of the Cregger Invitational versus the Sewanee Tigers, who won the SAA conference championship last season. The Blue and Gold dropped a back and forth battle to host Roanoke yesterday afternoon and look to remain over .500 with a victory to close out their holiday trip south.
Worcester, MA- After a holiday break in the Lancers action of nearly three weeks, they returned to play with a trip to Salem, VA in game one of the Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. The Lancers looked to continue their winning ways as they aim to pick up their fifth straight win of the season when they take on ODAC power house Roanoke College who are just coming off a hard battle on December 20th with a loss to Catholic University.

Worcester MA- After splitting 2 games in a tournament style competition at Williams College over this past weekend, Worcester State took to the road again for another non-conference matchup before the Thanksgiving break at Western New England.
Worcester, MA - The Men's Basketball traveled to Williamstown, MA on Saturday to play against the St. Joseph’s Golden Eagles from Long Island in the second game of the Purple and Gold Classic hosted by Williams College. The Lancers clinched their second win of the season with a solid victory over St. Joseph’s of Long Island.
