Rubenskas Named MASCAC Player of the Week

Worcester, MA- After a powerful performance this past week, the Worcester State Men’s Basketball team claimed their first ever Repeat MASCAC Championship, defeating Bridgewater State 80-79 in overtime on Saturday afternoon. Leading the charge all tournament was senior Ryan Rubenskas (Bridgewater, MA) who was named not only the tournament MVP, but this weeks MASCAC Player of the Week.

Rubenskas averaged 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and 1.5 steals while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor (18-27) in a 2-0 week during the MASCAC Tournament to lead the Lancers to their second straight title. Scored 18 points with six rebounds, three blocks and two assists in the 76-52 semifinal win over MCLA. Tallied 22 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals in the title game 80-79 title game overtime win over Bridgewater State. Earlier this season, Rubenskas recorded his career 1,000th point in a season that has seen him score 407 points with 241 rebounds, 26 steals and 59 blocks thus far.

The Lancers now await the NCAA selection show at 1pm to discover where the team may be playing this Friday to open the NCAA tournament.
