Lancers Victorious on Senior Night

Worcester, Mass. - The Lancers were back home Wednesday night for their final home game of the regular season, a conference matchup against the MCLA Trailblazers, in an effort to remain undefeated in the MASCAC. In front of a lively crowd, Worcester State prevails and finishes their final regular season clash on a high note.

 

FINAL SCORE: Worcester 92, MCLA 74

 

Prior to tip-off, the following players were honored at center court: 

 

#24 Erik Bjorn (Holden, Mass.), a five year member of the program. Bjorn marked 1,000 points in his career against Bridgewater on February 4th.

#15 Tayjaun McKenzie (Boston, Mass.), a two year member of the program after transferring from Fitchburg State & Norwich University. McKenzie made 43 appearances for the Blue & Gold heading into tonight.

#12 Zion Hendrix (Charlotte, N.C.), a four year member of the program, appearing in 70 games while starting in 40. 

 

Worcester State Athletics congratulates them for their hard work & commitment and wish them the very best in their future endeavors. 

 

The first half saw the Lancers take charge with a 19 point lead over the Blazers as the clock struck zero, shooting 18 for 41 from the field, while the Blazers made eleven out of thirty-nine attempts. Worcester kept the consistency heading into the second half, led by Junior forward Ryan Rubenskas (Bridgewater, Mass.), who finished the game with 18 points on nine out of twelve successful field goal attempts and a team best fifteen rebounds.

 

For MCLA, JoJo Garcia led the way with tem points while shooting four out of nine from the field and making two out of seven 3-point attempts, while Jayden Mills and Korey Greenland both recorded eight rebounds to their name. 

 

This brings the Lancers to 19-5 (11-0, MASCAC) on the season and remain perfect in the conference, while the Blazers go to 4-19 (3-8, MASCAC). 

 

UP NEXT: The Blue & Gold close out the 2022-23 regular season in Framingham this Saturday for a match up with the Rams. Tip-off is slated for 12pm. #WeAreWorcester
