Lancers Prevail on Senior Night 

Worcester, MA - The Lancers returned home on Tuesday for Senior Night to take on the Bridgewater State Bears in an LEC showdown at Coughlin Field. Prior to passback, Worcester State's seniors were honored as they were greeted on the field one-by-one with their families:

#19 Midfielder, Molly Cutting (Auburn, MA) 

 

These senior Lancers have dedicated so much to this organization during their time here; Worcester State Athletics wishes them the very best in their future endeavors. They were also able to seal their final regular season home game of their careers with a 3-1 victory over the Bears.

The Lancers recorded a total of twelve shots in the first half, including three on goal, while Bridgewater shot two, with one of them being their only goal of the game which came seventeen minutes into the first period to put the Bears up early. The Bears would keep their lead heading into the 3rd period, when a pass from Sophomore Forward Natalya Morin (Barre, MA) made contact with Karalyn Jones, who did not hesitate to knock it in the net to even out the score.

Jones led the team with seven shots, including Worcester's tying goal in the third period and two assists for Junior Midfielder Grace Adams (Leominster, MA), who gave Worcester the lead and scored the eventual game winning goal just under two minutes after. Adams now has nine goals on the season, while Jones scored her eighth and now leads the team with eight assists. 

 

Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Ferrara (Somerset, MA) recorded a total of two saves on three shots on goal, while Bridgewater's Madelyne Guidaboni saved nine out of eleven. 

 

The Lancers improve to a 12-6 (9-2, LEC) record on the season, sitting behind Southern Maine in Conference standings, while Bridgewater falls to 2-14 (1-10, LEC).

 

The Blue & Gold make the trip to UMass Dartmouth this Friday to close off their regular season against the Corsairs. Passback is scheduled for 7pm.
