  • 196 Lancers named to MASCAC Fall/Winter All-Academic Team

    Westfield, MA — A total of 1,390 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s Fall/Winter 2023 All-Academic team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.

  • Cross Country Wraps up Season at NCAA DIII Regionals

    Worcester, MA- Three Worcester State Cross Country teams travelled to New Hampshire today to compete in the NCAA Regional Qualifier hosted by Suffolk University this afternoon. Junior Matt Talbot (Belchertown, MA), sophomore Alexander Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) and sophomore Claudia Symonick (Auburn, MA) each raced against some of the top runners in the country.
  • Bolduc Leads Lancers Charge at MASCAC Championship

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross Country team hit the 8k course in Devens, MA today to compete at the 2023 MASCAC Championship. The team hit the course looking to capitalize on a diligent season of hard work to make a strong showing on the day and get themselves primed for their NCAA season. The unexpectedly hot late October afternoon made for a challenging 8k course with steep climbs and twisty terrain.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross Country had a late afternoon meet Saturday, traveling to Suffolk University for the Suffolk Invitational. The Lancers were coming out fresh with a 2:30pm start for the day’s meet.
  • Lancers Race at James Earley Invitational

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team traveled to Westfield State to compete in the annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State. The 8K course saw over 300 runners compete in the day’s event.
  • Lancers Men's Cross Country Finish Second at Framingham State Invitational
    September 30, 2023
    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team returned to action on a chilled Saturday morning as they headed to the first ever Framingham State Invitational, as they competed on the 8K course. The Lancers finished the meet in second place, recording a point total of 43 points to grab the top finish.
  • Talbot takes Top Spot at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team travelled after an expected storm delay pushed the match back a day later than expected at UMass-Dartmouth. The meet, initially scheduled for Saturday, September 16th, was moved to the following day to ensure the best course possible as the area was faced with the threat of Hurricane Lee. Senior Matt Talbot (Belchertown, MA) was again the first runner across for the Lancers for the second meet in a row this season.
  • VanderMolen named Head Coach and Coordinator of Operations of Cross Country and Track and Field

    Worcester, MA- Worcester State Athletic Director Michael Mudd is pleased to announce that the of the first full time Head Coach and Coordinator of Operations of Cross Country and Track and Field is Scott VanderMolen. The newly crafted position will see VanderMolen overseeing the full slate of six programs in the department immediately. In addition, VanderMolen will serve as a liaison with the Worcester State Admissions Department focusing on strengthening relationships with regional athletic departments and student-athletes. The program just wrapped up its first action of the season, traveling to Fitchburg State for the Jim Sheehan Invitational where the Men finished in second and the Women claimed third, the team is next in action on September 16 when they travel to UMass-Dartmouth for the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
  • Worcester State Men's Cross Country Finish in Second Behind Talbots Speed at Jim Sheehan

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross Country started their season today at the Jim Sheehan Invitational hosted by Fitchburg State. The team finished in second on the afternoon behind the brisk pace of junior Matthew Talbot who finished in seventh in the collegiate competition.
  • Worcester State Men's Cross Country Picked Fourth in MASCAC Preseason Poll
    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2023 MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll as selected by the conference coaches. The Lancers, who were the 2021 MASCAC Champions, look to return to the top spot this season.
  • Men's and Women's Cross Country Announces 2023 Schedule
    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country team are pleased to announce their scheduled meets for the 2023 course schedule. Both teams are looking to come off of impressive finishes last season in their bid to a MASCAC Championship meet that will be hosted by Worcester State at the end of October. This year’s squads are filled with young talent that will be led by an impressive array of upperclassman returners that look to make their mark in DIII. “We have a young team this year, and it will be a great opportunity for the rising upperclassman to step up now that they are the leaders of the team,” says assistant coach Nicole Gaffney, “I'm looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish.”
