Worcester State Men's Cross Country Finish in Second Behind Talbots Speed at Jim Sheehan

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Cross Country started their season today at the Jim Sheehan Invitational hosted by Fitchburg State. The team finished in second on the afternoon behind the brisk pace of junior Matthew Talbot (Belchertown, MA) who finished in seventh in the collegiate competition.

Talbot was first across for the Lancers in a time of 32:10 but finishing just seven seconds in his rear view was first year Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA) who finished in 8th in a time of 32:17. Crossing not far in the distance for Worcester State, was sophomore Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) who finished in a time of 32:36 for 12th. In 26th and 29th would see the last of the sophomore cross as Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA) and William Demers (Sutton, MA) finished up in times of 37:10 and 37:45 to secure the final points needed for the Lancers second place finish.

The Jim Sheehan Invitational kicked off the competition and training season for the Worcester State Cross Country team as they gear up to compete in late October at the MASCAC Championship. The Lancers are next in action on September 16th at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
