Nkrumah Drops Double-Double in Win Over Lions

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (3-4, 0-0 MASCAC) tipped off against the Emerson Lions (2-4, 0-0 NEWMAC) this afternoon at Brissette Court in a non-conference matchup.

END FIRST HALF: LANCERS 35 EMERSON 25

 

The first half saw the Lancers take a commanding 35-25 lead. Junior forward Aaron Nkrumah (Worcester, MA) led all scorers with 14 points on 4/7 from the field while hauling in nine rebounds and three assists. Senior center Ryan Rubenskas (East Bridgewater, MA) had 12 points and two blocks.

 

END SECOND HALF: LANCERS 63 EMERSON 55

 

Worcester State was able to keep their lead throughout the afternoon as Emerson attempted to chip away at the lead but was never able to pull within five points. Nkrumah finished the game with a double-double, 26 points with 14 rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

 

Rubenskas finished his day with 17 points, nine rebounds, four blocks, and two steals. Senior guard Sam Dion (Barre, MA) had nine points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

 

With the win, the Lancers record improves to (4-4, 0-0 MASCAC) while Emerson's record drops to (2-5, 0-0 NEWMAC).

 

The next game for Worcester State will be Wednesday, December 6th at 7 p.m. in Weston, MA for a tilt against the Regis Pride.
