WESTFIELD, Mass. – 34 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship as members of the 2016 Spring Sportsmanship Teams.
WORCESTER, Mass. – Two Worcester State University throwers of the men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams have been awarded with Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) awards for the week of May 16-22.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Worcester State University’s men’s outdoor track & field team competed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships this week, as Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) competed in three events, coming in 9th place in the shot put (15.47m), 11th place in the discus (43.34m), and 12th in the hammer throw (49.76m).
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Worcester State men’s and women’s track & field teams traveled to Southern Connecticut State University this weekend to take part in the New England Championships which consist of all schools of all divisions in the New England Region.

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Worcester State’s men’s outdoor track & field team marked a second place finish at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships on Saturday (Apr. 30), as the team claimed four individual titles. The team placed 4th out of 11 teams competing in the Alliance (MASCAC/Little East opponents). Westfield State was crowned both the MASCAC and Alliance Champions.

This is Vieira’s second time thus far in the outdoor 2016 season to be recognized with this honor.
FITCHBURG, Mass. - Week-by-week, the duo of Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) and Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.) land atop of the throwing competitions, as Weeks won the shot put event, and Vieira won both the men’s discus throw (42.04m) and men’s hammer throw (50.98m) on Saturday (Apr. 17) at the Eric Loeschner Invitational, hosted by Fitchburg State.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A well-rounded group of Lancers assisted in marking a fourth place finish (out of 21 teams competing) for Worcester State at the 6th Annual Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International College on Saturday (Apr. 9).
MEDFORD, Mass. – Worcester State’s Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.), Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.), and Duy Truong (Worcester, Mass.) earned a combined 42 points for the Lancers in the teams’ second place finish in the Tufts Snowflake Classic on Saturday (Apr. 2).
