Men’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Wesleyan Spring Break Invitational

Wesleyan Spring Break Invitational Results

 

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Worcester State men's track & field opened up their outdoor season on Saturday (Mar. 26) at the Wesleyan Spring Break Invitational, qualifying in both track & field events for Division III New England and ECAC Championships.

 

Christian Cedullo (Salem, Mass.) and Charles Newman (Westfield, Mass.) earned a first and second place finish in the 100 Meter Dash with times of 11.38 and 11.41, respectively. Ben Dussault (Assonet, Mass.) came in shortly behind them at fifth place, while Duy Truong (Worcester, Mass.) came in at seventh place. Newman and Dussault also placed fifth and sixth, respectively in the Men's 200 Meter. Cedullo came in fifth in the 400 Hurdles.

 

Marc George (Framingham, Mass.) marked a second place finish in the 800 Meter event with a time of 1:59.14.

 

Worcester State's team of Cedullo, Newman, Truong, and Dussault placed first in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 43.32, qualifying for ECAC Championships. Then, the group of George, Marques Johnson (W. Hartford, Conn.), Anthony Lawson (Randolph, Mass.), and Adam Scerra (Marlboro, Mass.) placed second in the 4x400 Meter Relay.

 

David Germain (Malden, Mass.) marked a first place finish in the men's high jump, qualifying for Division III New England's and ECAC Championships at a height of 1.93m. Markiesh Harmon (Leominster, Mass.) came in two spots behind him with a height of 1.78m.

 

Scott Page (Baldwinville, Mass.) came in at fourth place in the men's pole vault at 3.95m.

 

Truong marked a second place finish in the men's long jump for a distance of 6.44m, qualifying for Division III New England's. Elijah Mawejje (Woburn, Mass.) came in at 6th in the same event.

 

Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) registered a first place finish in the men's shot put, qualifying for both Division III New England's and also ECAC Championships. Weeks logged a distance of 15.14m. Freshman Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.) came in two spots behind Weeks with a distance of 13.10m. The duo also placed in the top three of the men's discus as well, while Vieira came in first at 42.1m, and Weeks came in third at 38.35m. They also came in at third and fourth spots in the men's hammer, as Vieira qualified for Division III New England's.

 

Worcester State's Matthew Dent (Ludlow, Mass.) and Mike Piantedosi (Stow, Mass.) came in at sixth and seventh in the discus, while Anthony Christo (Peabody, Mass.) and Robert White (Ludlow, Mass.) placed sixth and seventh in the men's hammer. Adrian Lingo (Sharon, Mass.) placed fourth in the men's javelin.

 

Next weekend, the Lancers travel to Tufts for the Snowflake Inviational.
