Field Hockey Announces 2023 Schedule
Worcester, MA- Third year Head Coach Hayley Sutherland and the Worcester State University Field Hockey team have announced their 2023 slate of games. This season will be the first that the program competes solely in the MASCAC conference, which they were named regular season champions of last season, as they bid for a return to the NCAA tournament. The team is primed to finish their season battling for the first ever MASCAC Championship and automatic qualifier to the NCAA behind senior captains Grace Adams and Sam Gastonguay, along with fellow captain and junior Madison Avilla. With a breath of new talent and dedicated returners, the Lancers are looking to make their presence felt this season.
Spotlight: Ali Roy and the Chance to Play Again
On Nov. 9, 2019, Ali Roy was celebrating a statement, 6-0 victory over Keene State College in the Little East Conference championship game. In just her sophomore year, it seemed like Roy was looking forward to a bright future as part of a wildly talented Worcester State field hockey squad. And then the world shut down.
Ferrara named Goalie of the Week for Third Time
Worcester, MA- Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Ferrara has been named the goalie of the week for the third time this season after a 2-0 LEC conference week that saw Worcester State defeat Keene St. and Eastern Conn.
Jones Named Offensive Player of the Week
Worcester, MA- Senior forward Karalyn Jones has been named the final regular season offensive player of the week in the Lancers last season as members of the LEC Conference. This is the first honor for Jones this season.
