Worcester State Lands 176 MASCAC All-Academic Selections

Winter/Spring 2020 MASCAC All-Academic Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Worcester State University landed 176 selections on the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon.

Student-athletes who compete in championship varsity sports offered by each of the MASCAC institutions during the course of the winter and spring 2020 athletic seasons and have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester-based grade point average during the semester are eligible for selection to the Winter/Spring All-Academic Team.  

Worcester State's 176 honorees ranked second in the conference behind Bridgewater State's 201. Across the conference, 1,152 student-athletes were named to the MASCAC Winter/Spring All-Academic Team.

All 13 of Worcester State's winter and spring sports were represented on the All-Academic Team. The women's outdoor track & field team had the strongest percentage of honorees, landing 92.7 percent of its roster on the Team. Men's golf and men's ice hockey tied for the top spot on the men's side, each landing 83.3 percent of their rosters on the squad.

"I'm incredibly proud of all of our student-athletes who achieved today's prestigious honor," said Worcester State Director of Athletics Michael Mudd. "This spring was unlike any other, and these student-athletes showed incredible resilience to thrive in the new virtual learning setting. I would also like to thank all of our coaches, staff, and administrators for doing everything in their power to ensure our student-athletes would succeed."
