Men's and Women's Basketball Each Land Pair of All-WACBA Honorees

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's and women's basketball teams each had a pair of student-athletes named to the All-Worcester Area College Basketball Association teams.

Representing the Worcester State men's team were senior Tyler Dion (Barre, Mass.), and First Team All-WACBA selection, and junior Chris Cardoso (Jamaica Plain, Mass.), a Second Team All-WACBA selection. First Team selection Mya Mosley (Worcester, Mass.) and Second Team selection Catherine Sweeney (Lowell, Mass.) represented the women's team.

Dion was Worcester State's leading scorer in the 2019-20 season, averaging 16.5 points per game in 26 games played, and ranked second in the conference with a three-point percentage of 46.6 percent. In conference games, Dion connected on 51.5 percent of his three-point attempts to lead the league. He reached the 1,000-point plateau for his collegiate career against Williams on November 15, and was named to the First Team All-MASCAC.

Cardoso finished as Worcester State's second leading scorer this season, averaging 15.9 points per game, while also averaging 8.6 rebounds per game to finish fifth in the MASCAC. Cardoso's strong numbers were even more impressive in conference games, where he averaged a double-double with 17.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. He was voted to the MASCAC's All-Conference Second Team.

Mosley ranked fourth in the MASCAC averaging 17.2 points per game, and added 25.7 points per game for the Lancers in the postseason. She was a two-time MASCAC Player of the Week, one-time Worcester Area College Basketball Association and NEWBA Player of the Week, and one-time NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll selection. She was also named to the First Team All-MASCAC and Third Team NEWBA All-Region. She was selected to play in the NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic, which was cancelled.

Sweeney closed out her career with a strong senior season across the board, averaging 6.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.9 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. She was a one-time NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll recipient during the season.
