Virtual Awards Week - Senior Class Awards

The Worcester State University Athletic Department traditionally honors its senior class at its annual awards banquet, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of this year’s ceremony. As a department, we are saddened we are unable to give the Class of 2020 the final sendoff it deserves, but would like to take the time to honor the 78 members of the class nonetheless.

The Class of 2020 had success both in the classroom and in competition. Here are a few of the many highlights from the past four years:

  • The class combined to win 11 conference tournament championships (10 in the MASCAC, and field hockey in the Little East Conference) over its four years. The seniors from the women’s cross country, women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball teams, as well as the handful of student-athletes who competed on both the men’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams in 2017, all lead the way with two conference championships. Forty percent of the class will graduate with a conference championship under its belt.

  • The track & field and cross country seniors combined to win 11 MASCAC Individual Championships, and graduates holding three program records. Eddy Acuna won five, Abigail MacGregor and Elisabeth Olson won two, and Courtney Guay and Lauren Waters each won one. Olson holds two school records, and Guay holds one.

  • Fifty-six of the athletes (72 percent) earned MASCAC All-Academic Honors at least once in their time with the Lancers.

  • The class accumulated 30 All-Conference honors over their four years. Only Olivia Antonelli of the field hockey team was named All-Conference in each of her four seasons.

  • The class received five major end of year awards from their respective conferences. Elisabeth Olson was the MASCAC Cross Country Runner of the Year in 2018, Olivia Antonelli was the LEC Field Hockey Rookie of the Year in 2016, Sarah Bjorn was the LEC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Year in 2019, Rachel Hopkins was the LEC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Year in 2019, and Tsara LeBlanc was the MASCAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year in 2015.

All 78 seniors are listed below. They will receive a special gift from the Athletic Department.

To the individuals on this list, we can’t possibly thank you enough for your contributions to Worcester State Athletics, and wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
