Six Lancers Selected to MASCAC Sportsmanship Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Six Worcester State University spring student-athletes were named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Team on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by the league office.

The MASCAC Sportsmanship Team is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team in every sport that best demonstrates the values of the MASCAC and its Sportsmanship Statement, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season. A student-athlete from each institution is selected by their coach to be placed on the Sportsmanship Team of the sport in which they compete.

Representing the Lancers from the women's outdoor track & field team was senior Bernice Mensah (Worcester, Mass.), while classmate Hoang Vo (Worcester, Mass.) represented the men's outdoor track & field team. From women's lacrosse, senior Hannah Sledzieski (Northampton, Mass.) earned Sportsmanship Team honors.

The softball team was represented by senior Ally Tocman (Shrewsbury, Mass.), with Issiac Christiansen (Franklin, Maine) representing the baseball team. The only Worcester State Sportsmanship team honoree not from the senior class was first-year Marc Melanson (Natick, Mass.) from the men's golf program.

For Tocman, it is her second consecutive MASCAC Sportsmanship Team selection. Mensah, Vo, Sledzieski, Christiansen, and Melanson all earned the award for the first time.
