Julia Margolis Named New Head Athletic Trainer/ Assistant Athletic Director
Worcester, MA- Worcester State University and Worcester State Director of Athletics Michael Mudd are pleased to announce the hiring of Julia Margolis as the new Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Director at Worcester State University. “We had some excellent candidates that applied for this position. Julia checked all the boxes as to what we were looking for to take on such an important responsibility in our Athletics Department” states Mudd. “She comes to us with the strongest of recommendations and I have no doubt that Julia will do an incredible job, along with our current experienced training staff, to provide our student-athletes the greatest care possible.” Margolis, who was previously the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Buffalo State, will begin in the position starting July 1st.

Margolis joins the Lancer’s staff after three years with the Bengals athletic training staff where she worked primarily with Football, Women's Hockey, Softball and the Track & Field jumpers. Before moving to neighboring Buffalo State, she spent a season at Villa Maria College as the Head Athletic Trainer where she was responsible for overseeing the department along with updates to testing and concussion policies while establishing a mental health management plan for all student-athletes.
Prior to her time in Buffalo, Margolis worked for two years at Williams College as an assistant athletic trainer working with the field hockey, men's soccer, swimming and diving, rugby, squash, and track and field programs alongside several club programs sponsored by the school. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Margolis helped craft the policies for the Ephs after serving in the athletic training department at Bard College in New York, where her primary responsibilities were focused on the men's soccer, men's basketball, tennis, and squash programs.

Margolis has also served in several positions outside of college athletics to complete her well rounded resume, working at Excelsior Orthopedics in Amherst, N.Y., the Allegheny Health Network in Pennsylvania, the CATS Academy in Boston, and Advanced Physical Therapy Solutions in Hope Mills, N.C.
Margolis, an Auburn Massachusetts native, received her undergraduate degree from Norwich University in Athletic Training and Health Sciences with a concentration in Sports Medicine. While working towards her master’s, Margolis served as a graduate athletic trainer with the women’s soccer and softball programs at Springfield College, where she received her Master’s in Exercise Science and Sport Science, with a concentration in Athletic Training Rehabilitation in 2017. Margolis also holds certifications as American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, American Heart Association BLS Provider, Certified Kinesiology Taping Practitioner and Certified Graston Technique Provider.
