Men's & Women's Basketball to Each Compete for MASCAC Glory Saturday

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's and women's basketball teams will each compete for Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday after a pair of convincing semifinal wins on Thursday evening.

The Worcester State men, seeded second in the tournament, travel to top-seeded Westfield State University, while the third-seeded women head to top-seeded Framingham State. Both games will tip off at 1 p.m. It is just the third time in school history that both teams will play for a championship in the same year (2000 and 2003).

The men advanced to the final after a 96-72 win over MCLA in Thursday's MASCAC Semifinal. It will be the ninth trip to the MASCAC title game in program history, and first since 2017. The Lancers have just one MASCAC Championship to their name, coming in 1994.

The Worcester State women beat Fitchburg State 73-44 in the MASCAC Quarterfinals and Westfield State 90-75 in the MASCAC Semifinals to advance to the conference championship for the second straight year. It will be the Lancers' fourth trip the the MASCAC Championship, and both teams will be seeking their first ever tournament titles.
