74 Tabbed To 2012 MASCAC Fall All-Academic Team

 

Buzzards Bay, MA --- 75 Worcester State student-athletes have been named to the 2012 MASCAC Fall All-Academic Team as announced by Media Relations Director Jim Seavey. More than 550 total student-athletes were named by the conference as the Lancers had the third-most student-athletes earn the prestigious accolade.

To be named to the all-academic squad a student-athlete must have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester based grade point average during the fall semester.

Among Worcester State teams, the women's cross country team had nine of their 11 members honored while the field hockey squad had 15 of their 19 receive all-academic accolades. Seven of the 13 members of the women's volleyball team and 18 of 68 from the football team were also tabbed to the team as well.

Fourth-year recipients to the MASCAC All-Academic Team included Brianne Beckman (WSOC - Lakeville, MA), Erin Donohue (XC - Saugus, MA), DJ Gustafson (MSOC - Webster, MA), Nicole Harvey (FH - Attleboro, MA), Torey Kuchachik (FH - Ashland, MA), Rebecca Mullen (FH - Peabody, MA) and Ally Valencia (FH - Foxboro, MA).

Westfield State had the most with 125 student-athletes honored.

The nations oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference is comprised of eight NCAA Division III member institutions:  Bridgewater State, Fitchburg State, Framingham State, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State, Westfield State and Worcester State. UMass Dartmouth and Plymouth State are affiliate members in the sport of ice hockey and in 2013, Western Connecticut will join the conference for the sport of football.
