Worcester State Men’s Cross County Races to PRs at the Paul Short Invitational

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Cross-Country team travelled to Lehigh, PA this afternoon to compete in the Paul Short Invitational against top national competition. The team recorded three personal records in the 8k race to compile a team score of 1,123.

The Lancers were led by first year James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA), who set a new personal record on the course with a time of 28:09.2 and came in 188 out of 340 runners. Coming in just over two minutes off of Riley was senior Elias Boone (Littleton, MA) who ran a time of 30:22.0, followed closely by first year Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) with a time of 30:31.7. Rounding out the top five finishers were fellow first years Will Demers (Sutton, MA) at 30:59.8 and Alexander Matasuyasu (Newton, MA) crossing the finish at 31:11.9, who each registered their own personal records in Pennsylvania.

Coming in just out of team scoring contention was sophomore Matthew Talbot (Belchertown, MA) at a time of 31:55.5, first years Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA), with his own personal best of 33:11.6, and Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA) with a time of 35:30.8.

The Worcester State Men's Cross-Country team is back on the course October 8 at the James Early Invitational in Westfield, MA.
