Message From Director of Athletics Michael Mudd
Worcester State University is a NCAA Division III member institution which provides an excellent, affordable education in addition to a solid athletic environment for student-athletes. Our university prides itself on developing the student-athlete in order to reach his or her full potential on and off the field of play. Most of our sports programs have earned berths in both the NCAA Division III and ECAC New England Tournaments while also competing in the highly competitive Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
Academics will always remain the primary focus at Worcester State University. However, student-athletes are encouraged to participate in a variety of other activities that we offer across campus. Student-athletes are treated like all members of the general student body with a focus on being a student in the classroom first. Last year, 385 Worcester State student-athlete earned MASCAC All-Academic Team honors for maintaining at least a 3.20 grade point average during their season of play, the highest in the conference.
In 2016, we opened our $45.5 million, 100,000 square-foot Wellness Center on campus. This facility includes a varsity competition gymnasium, a multi-purpose gym, a fitness center, locker rooms, exercise rooms, and classroom space. These amenities, combined with our outdoor recreational facilities, provide our entire Worcester State University community with some of the best Division III athletic facilities in New England.
