Howes Earns Third MASCAC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Award

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s freshman guard Cal Howes (Maynard, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men’s basketball rookie of the week award, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

The rookie averaged 6.5 points in a 1-1 week for the Lancers. He scored three points and picked up a steal in the loss to Bridgewater State, and then scored 10 points, grabbed three boards and one assist in the 59-55 win over Framingham State.

"Cal had a solid week for us," commented head coach David Lindberg.  "His consistency on both ends of the floor have improved from earlier in the year."

This is Howes’ third time this season winning this award, as he also earned it Nov. 28 and Jan. 2.

The men’s basketball team returns home on Wednesday, Jan. 25 as they host Westfield State in a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
