Rogers Named MASCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s sophomore runner, Mia Rogers (N. Dighton, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) runner of the week as announced by the conference Monday (Oct. 17) afternoon.

This past weekend at the Western New England Invitational, Rogers placed seventh with a 5K time of 19:34 to help the Lancers finish fifth as a team out of 28 teams competing.

"Mia trained through this week's race at Western New England University in long-term prep for the MASCAC Championships in two weeks," commented head coach Gary Jusseaume.  "Despite that lack of meet-prep rest, she ran a strong race with a terrific finishing effort."

"I look for Mia to run her best race of the year at MASCACs, which will set the tenor of her training for the NCAA Regional Championships the second week of November," added Jusseaume.

"Mia's work ethic and tenacity in both training and competition is so much more intense that last year," said Jusseaume.  "That's her forte."

This upcoming weekend the Lancers travel to Fitchburg State University for the MASCAC Championships.
