Wallace, George Bang Out Three Hits Apiece In Home Setback Against Fisher

Worcester, MA --- Fisher junior Devin Perry (Newton, MA) went 5-for-5 with, one triple, four runs scored and a pair RBI to help pace the Falcons to a 16-2 win over Worcester State in non-league baseball action this afternoon at the Kevin Lyons Diamond.

Other standouts for Fisher (18-12) included freshman Cody Mercier (Salem, MA) who had three hits in six at-bats with one homer and three runs batted in. Senior Jussue Alvarado (New York, NY) and sophomore Harold Nogueras (Tao Alto, Puerto Rico) both added two hits each.

Junior Steve Wallace (Auburn, MA) and senior Zach George (Attleboro, MA) had three hits for the Lancers (15-11) and senior JD Salinas (Fredericksburg, TX) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Fisher jumped on the board with the early 1-0 margin after Nogueras crossed home plate on a high throw by the third baseman to first as two outs were in the inning.

The Falcons tacked on five more runs taking advantage of several WSU miscues to take over the 6-0 edge. Perry, Mercier and Nogueras all had run producing singles while junior Jose Fortuna (Salem, MA) scored on a misplayed ball by the right fielder.

In the top of the sixth, Mercier's two-run shot to right center for his fourth of the campaign helped put the game away with five more scores. Perry and senior Dylan Moss (Mount Pearl, Newfoundland) also had RBI triples in the frame to balloon the lead up to 11-1.

Senior Elvis Perez (Bronx, NY) had a pinch-hit two run double in the seventh and classmate Jordan Berry (Cohassett, MA) came off the bench to produce a two-run round tripper for his fifth of the year in the eighth to highlight the scoring in the late stanzas.

Sophomore Brian Bonacquisti (Pittsfield, MA) had a run scoring at-bat in the bottom of the sixth and Wallace rapped out an RBI single just two innings later accounted for WSU's two scores in the contest.

Falcon junior Amauris Santana (New York, NY) evened out his season record to 3-3 in the victory. Santana tossed seven solid innings giving up two runs (one earned) while scattering eight hits to go with one walk and six strikeouts.

Senior Joe Larson (Warwick, MA) absorbed the setback for the Lancers. Larson (0-1) permitted six unearned runs on six hits and he rung up four on strikeouts.

Fisher out slugged their counterparts in the hitting department, 20-10

Both squads will play again tomorrow at 3:30. Worcester State hosts MIT while the Falcons take on Newbury at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton.
