WESTFIELD, Mass. — Worcester State University's junior utility player, Jake Ryan (Northbridge, Mass.) earned a spot on the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball First-Team as announced by the MASCAC Wednesday (May 4) afternoon.
Ryan led his team with a .338 batting average, .423 on base percentage, and a .500 slugging percentage. The junior tallied 48 hits, 13 doubles, five triples, 21 RBI, and a team-high 10 stolen bases. Defensively, he posted a .955 fielding percentage in 132 total chances.
For the second straight year, Massachusetts Maritime catcher Logan Sullo has earned the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors and headlines the all-conference squad as voted by the eight coaches from around the league. Sean Buckland of Salem State earned the 2016 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year after leading the Vikings to the regular season title and top seed in the tournament. First year coach Kevin Barnaby of Fitchburg State has earned the 2016 Champion's Choice Baseball Coach of the Year after leading the Falcons to a 10-4 record and the third seed in the MASCAC Tournament.
