GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Worcester State University baseball team was one of 427 teams nationwide named an American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award recipient on Tuesday.
To be eligible for the award, teams must achieve a grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale. The Lancers achieved its highest full-year cumulative grade point average in 2019-20 at 3.15 to receive the award.
Worcester State was the only Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference team to earn the honor.
The Lancers played just two games in 2020 before the remainder of their season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team finished its abbreviated season with a record of 1-1.
