Sorenti-Burns and Glassburn Named to MASCAC All-Conference

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Baseball team had two named to the MASCAC All-Conference second team. Seniors Cole Glassburn (Hopkinton, MA), named as a starting pitcher, and Alex Sorenti-Burns (Sagamore Beach, MA), as designated hitter, were selected by the league coaches.

Joining Glassburn and Burns on the second team are Bridgewater State's Kevin Lindsay, Mathew Pigeon and Matthew Seavey, Fitchburg State's Jacob Hurrell, Framingham State's Steven Burbank, Robert Johnston and Anthony Panza, Mass. Maritime's AJ Pietrafesa, John Tropea and Brett Velzis, Salem State's Jake Boucher and Westfield State's Ethan Day.

Glassburn concluded his season with four wins and three losses, throwing two complete games for the Lancers. He allowed just 51 hits for 17 earned runs, striking out 43 on the season.  Sorenti-Burns was awarded second team honors on his 119 at bats in 36 games resulting in 26 runs off 36 hits and three home runs on the season. He recorded nine stolen bases and concluded the season with a team leading .303 batting average for Worcester State.

Worcester State concluded their season last Thursday in the MASCAC Quarterfinal. They finished their season at 17-22, 11-10 in the MASCAC.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's first Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as a football affiliate member in 2013 and Castleton in 2024. Dean College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Mitchell College, and Springfield College joined as men's golf affiliates in 2019 and New England College in 2021.
