Worcester, MA --- Senior linebacker Tyler Russell (Princeton, MA) has been named this years Worcester Area Football Association Defensive Player of the Year while head coach Brien Cullen has been tabbed as this year's Coach of the Year in a selection by the areas Sports Information Directors.
The first-team selections include junior Marcus Price (Worcester, MA - RB), third-year Kenny Russell (Bedford, MA - WR), sophomore Graham Asum (Marlboro, MA) who recieved the honor as a defensive back and a return specialist and Tyler Russell.
Junior's Robert Johnson III (Leicester, MA - OL), Joe Sweet (Walpole, MA - DE) and Ray St. Laurent (Shrewsbury, MA - DL) all picked up second-team honors.
Tyler and Kenny Russell, Price, Johnson, Sweet and Asum were each honored on the All-NEFC Bogan Division team while Tyler Russell was distingushed on the third-team of the D3football.com All-East Team.
Under the direction of Cullen, the Lancers finished the season at 5-5 overall (3-4 NEFC Bogan Division) after going 1-9 in 2009. With several starters returning on both sides of the ball next season, Worcester State will look to contend for the NEFC Bogan Division title.
