WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's junior quarterback Noah Brum (Honolulu, H.I.) threw for 364-yards with a Worcester State record-high 77.8% completion rate and tied a Worcester State game record with five passing touchdowns in the Lancers' 48-0 senior day shutout over the visiting Massachusetts Maritime Buccaneers in a Saturday afternoon Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) matchup.

1ST QUARTER
Worcester State began the scoring on its third drive of the game. Worcester State's Kharif Pryor (Brooklyn, N.Y.) returned the ball 18-yards to the Mass. Maritime 25-yard line to start. Brum and Cam Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.) connected on a 13-yard pass to put the Lancers in the red zone. Following a Mass. Maritime penalty and a rush from Dexter Andrews (Boston, Mass.), Brum found Charrette in the end zone for a touchdown. In the first yard alone, the Buccaneers lost 24 yards to penalties.
2ND QUARTER
Worcester State picked up another touchdown on the next drive, as Brum found the hands of Dan Orlando (Westborough, Mass.) just 55 seconds into the second frame. Noah Hwang (Brooklyn, N.Y.) converted another extra point attempt to put the Lancers up 14-0. Worcester State tallied another touchdown on an 11-play, 78-yard drive as Jacob Maher (Marshfield, Mass.) registered his 10th rushing touchdown of the season on an 11-yard catch. The Blue and Gold earned their third touchdown of the quarter with 2:25 remaining in the half when Brum completed a 24-yard pass for a touchdown to Orlando. The Lancers scored on each of their three drives in the second frame to go into the intermission ahead 27-0.
3RD QUARTER
Worcester State did not allow the Buccaneers on their side of the field until late in the third quarter after the Lancers added another touchdown on a 30-yard pass to Maher, advancing the score to 34-0.
4TH QUARTER
On the same drive that the Buccaneers ended the third quarter in, Mass. Maritime was able to get in the red zone for the first time of the game as they advanced 37-yards on seven plays, including rushes from Richie Phillips (Onset, Mass.) and Chris Haggerty (Cohasset, Mass.) passes. However, when the Buccaneers got to the Worcester 14-yard line, Haggerty threw a pass that was picked off by Worcester's Bemnet Morgan (Springfield, Mass.) at the 9-yard line, who then returned 37 yards to the Worcester-38. The Lancers scored on two of their next three drives to conclude the score at 48-0. Justin Lewis (Lynn, Mass.) and Bryce Conroy (Barnstable, Mass.) accounted for the final two scores.
DOWN FOR A COUNT
- Worcester State's Brum completed 28-of-36 passes for a Worcester State game record of a 77.8% completion rate. He bested Dan Hanson who had a 74.0% completion rate in 1998 against Westfield State. Brum also matched a Worcester State game-high five throwing touchdowns in the win. Worcester State's Mike Kadlick (Dedham, Mass.) and Conroy saw time at the quarterback position in the win.
- On the receiving end, Worcester State's Orlando led with 69-yards and two touchdowns. Pryor gathered 66 yards on five receptions, while Maher and Connor Amann (Stamford, Conn.) caught four passes for 63-yards each.
- The Lancers' rushing game was led by Frank Catanoso (Marshfield, Mass.) who picked up 17 yards on two runs. Hunter Paupaw (Hudson, Mass.) rushed four times for 16 yards, while Andrews picked up 14 net yards on 11 rushes.
- Defensively for the Blue and Gold, Mike Quinn (Sutton, Mass.) led with 13 tackles (six solo). Theo Bryant (Lowell, Mass.) picked up eight.
- Mass. Maritime's Haggerty threw for 28 yards, completing 8-of-19 throws (42.1%), and threw one interception. On the other end of Haggerty was Derek Stegman (Dover, N.H.) who made three catches for 14 yards.
- The Buccaneers' Philips led the squad in rushes with 29 for 135 yards. Matt Long (Weymouth, Mass.) ran the ball eight times and picked up 57 yards in the setback.
- Mass. Maritime's defense was led by Sean Smialek (South Dartmouth, Mass.) with nine tackles on the occasion.
- Worcester State held the advantage in passing yards, 433-35. However, the Buccs held a 205-46 benefit in rushing yards. Overall, the Lancers led 479-240 in total yards.
- Worcester State scored on 5-of-6 red zone chances, while the Buccs only saw one red zone opportunity.

The Lancers wrap up the 2017 season on the road, as they head to Bridgewater State next Saturday (Nov. 4) and Framingham State the following Saturday (Nov. 11).
