Field Hockey Evens Record in 6-0 Win Over Anna Maria

Worcester, MA --- Sophomore Angela Johnson (Ashby, MA) notched a goal and an assist to go along with a team-high six shots on goal to help lead Worcester State, 6-0, over Anna Maria in field hockey action on Wednesday night at Coughlin Field. With the win the Lancers improve to 2-2 while the AMCATS fall to 0-2 on the young season.

The Lancers jumped on the board early scoring five goals in the first half. Johnson got the first marker of the contest at 2:06. WSC scored three times in a span of six minutes just before the 15 minute mark on strokes from senior Meghan Rosborough (Uxbridge, MA), classmate Ginelle Blias (Marlboro, MA) and freshmen Kaitlynn Deslisle (Taunton, MA).  Erin Moore (Brimfield, MA) added the final tally of the stanza as she found the back of the net at 30:54.

Freshman Sarah Cozzens (Lancaster, MA) scored her first career goal at 69:11 to cap off the scoring for the Lancers.

At least eight Worcester State players finished with at least two shots as the Lancer bench had a solid night with three goals and an assist. Junior Angela Guiffrida (Leicester, MA) led Anna Maria as she added a pair of shots for the AMCATS.

Senior Erin MacDonald (Dedham, MA) posted her second shutout in as many games while she was called upon to only make one save. Sophomore Alyssa Boykin (Worcester, MA) recorded 16 stops between the pipes for AMC.

Worcester State will open up Little East Conference play when they host Westfield State on Saturday at 11 AM while Anna Maria will entertain Becker tomorrow at 4 o'clock.
