N. Dartmouth, MA --- Seven field hockey student-athletes have been named to the Little East All-Academic Team as announced by league publicist Jack Holleran.
This years honorees included seniors Sarah Cozzens (Lancaster, MA) and Samantha Janda (W. Boylston, MA), juniors Nicole Harvey (Attleboro, MA), Torey Kuchachik (Ashland, MA), Rebecca Mullen (Peabody, MA) and Ally Valencia (Foxboro, MA) along with sophomore Lindsey McGeary (Foxboro, MA).
This marks the second time Janda has been honored on the squad while Cozzens recieved repeat honors in 2010. Last season the squad was honored by the National Field Hockey College Association (NFHCA) for having the best grade point average in Divisions I, II and III.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3, must be a sophomore academically and athletically as well as a member of a varsity sport.
Under the guidance of first-year head coach Susie Whelan, the Lancers finished the year 10-9 and 6-5 in LEC play. The squad earned their first LEC Tournament berth and ECAC Division III New England Tournament bid since the 2008 season.
