Five Lancers Named Little East All-Conference

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Five players from the Worcester State University field hockey team have been named to Little East Conference All-Conference teams. The announcement came from the conference office on Thursday.

Senior Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) and sophomore Coley Hayes (Norwood, Mass.) were each named to the All-Conference First Team, while sophomore Rachel Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) and junior Olivia Antonelli (Westford, Mass.) were each named to the LEC All-Conference Second Team. Rookie goalkeeper Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) round out the honors by being named All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Parent became the Lancers all-time goals, assists, and points leader during her senior season, that saw her score 18 goals and 13 assists for 49 points. She was a one-time Little East Offensive Player of the Week award recipient, and was named a Longstreth/NFHCA National Weekly Honorable Mention once as well. Parent will play in the NFHCA Division III Senior Game on November 17.

Hayes was the backbone of the Lancer defense this year, and earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference for her efforts. The sophomore started all 21 games for the Lancers this season, and tallied a goal and a defensive save. Hayes was a major reason the Lancers ranked second in the Little East with a goals against average of 1.75.

Rachel Hopkins earned her first All-Conference selection after a strong sophomore season in the Lancer midfield. She tallied 10 goals and four assists on the season, including three game-winning goals. She netted her first career hat trick in a conference win over Salem State on October 17.

Antonelli grabbed a spot on the Second Team All-Conference for the third consecutive year on Thursday. The junior was tied for the team lead with 18 goals, while also adding eight assists for 44 points. Antonelli was a one-time Little East Offensive Player of the Week this season, and tallied four game-winning goals on the year.

Goalkeeper Jess Hopkins is the fifth All-Conference selection for the Lancers, as she earned a spot on the Honorable Mention team. She had a 14-7 record in her rookie campaign, and ranked second in the conference with a goals against average of 1.78, and recorded two shutouts on the year.
