Field Hockey Blanked by Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott field hockey team shut out Worcester State, 5-0, on Thursday night at North Field.

Sophomore goalie Sam Gastonguay (Ashburnham, Mass.) made a career-high 13 saves for the Lancers, but Worcester State fell to 10-4 on the year.

Endicott jumped out to an early 3-0 lead at the half via goals from Meaghan Hogan (Cheshire, Conn.), Rachael Lemay (Southport, Conn), and Olivia Lampasona (Watertown, Mass.) and never looked back.

From there, Lampasona tallied her second goal of the game with 40 seconds to play (59:20), while Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.) followed with her 11th goal of the season with just five seconds remaining in regulation to punctuate the win.

Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) also stopped six shots for the Gulls in the victory (6-3).

Endicott is 2-0 in the all-time series versus Worcester State (11/11/06, 3-0). The GUlls (8-3, 3-0 CCC) will host the University of New England (8-4, 4-0 CCC) on Saturday, October 16 at 1 PM. 

Worcester State travels to Plymouth State (7-4) on Saturday, October 16 at 4 PM.
