Saucier Collects Third Defensive Player of the Week Accolade

North Providence, R.I. -- For the third time this season, Worcester State junior back Emily Saucier (Auburn, Mass.) has been honored by the Little East Conference (LEC) as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Saucier was a pivotal part of the Lancers' 2-1 LEC victory over Eastern Connecticut on Saturday. She had a key defensive save in the first quarter, and then set up the game-winning goal as the Lancers picked up a critical conference victory. She also had an assist in the Lancers' setback to Keene State on Wednesday.

For the season, Saucier has a team-high three defensive saves to go with two goals and four assists. At the beginning of the season, she was honored by the conference with the same award on back to back weeks in September.

The Lancers are 12-5 overall and 7-3 in the LEC. They will play tonight at 7:00 pm at Bridgewater State, a game that was postponed from last night due to inclement weather. Their final LEC game is Saturday at home against Umass Dartmouth before the LEC tournament gets underway next week.
