Worcester, MA --- Sophomore Paul Brooks (Arlington, MA) has been selected Co-Worcester Area Coaches Basketball Association (WACBA) Player of the Week for his standout efforts in a 1-1 week for Worcester State.

Brooks averaged 13.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocks including 11 points, 14 boards and a school-record tying eight blocks in a 79-72 victory over Fitchburg State to go with 15 points, 15 caroms and a trio of rejections in a 68-62 setback against Westfield State.

He also added 12 field goals in 18 attempts for a .667 shooting percentage for the week. Brooks helped head coach Dave Lindberg earn his 250th career coaching victory.

Brooks currently leads the MASCAC in rebounds (10.7 RPG) and blocks (3.7) while his total points (235) and scoring (13.1 PPG) are fourth and eighth, respectively, in the conference. Brooks is also third in the league with a .573 field goal percentage (110-192).

Among NCAA Division III leaders, Brooks is fourth in both average and total blocks (56) as his average boards are 16th nationally and sixth in New England.

Brooks shares the WACBA Player of the Week accolade with senior Sam Longwell (Acton, MA) of WPI, who was honored on this week's D3hoops.com Team of the Week.

Worcester State (4-14, 1-4 MASCAC) has just one game scheduled this week on the road against Framingham State on Thursday.
