WESTFIELD, Mass. - For the second consecutive week, Worcester State University men's basketball freshman Sam Dion (Barre, Mass.) has been named the Rookie of the Week by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Dion had a pair of strong outings for the Lancers this week, helping his team secure a share of the MASCAC Regular Season Championship for the first time in 20 years. Dion averaged 19 points per game in two contests on the week and converted 6-of-12 three-point attempts (50 percent). He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.5 assists per game.

Dion and the Lancers will open MASCAC Tournament play by hosting the semifinals on Thursday evening. They will play the winner of the semifinal between MCLA and Fitchburg State.
