Men's Golf Opens Season At Lou Flumere Invitational

Stow, MA --- Junior Bob Bruso (Auburn, MA) finished three strokes off the lead to tie for 12th place as helped lead Worcester State to take home 11th at the Lou Flumere Mass Intercollegiates hosted by Bentley College. The event kicked off the spring schedule for the Lancers on the par 71 Stow Acres Country Club.

WSC as a team finished with a score of 331 which was 26 strokes away from Salem State’s total of 305. Colin Andrade (Assonet, MA) of Holy Cross was the medalist as he won a three man playoff with the Vikings Nicholas Antonelli (North Andover, MA) and Anna Maria’s Nathan McNamara (Leicester, MA).

Bruso fired a 77 (+6) followed by senior Mike Leveroni’s (Arlington, MA) total of 83 (+12) who tied for 43rd as freshman Chris Ellis (Charlton, MA/St. Peter-Marian) carded an 85 (+14) to tie for 54th. Sophomore Ryan Walker (Hudson, MA) tallied an 86 (+15) to tie for 58th and junior Mike Horan (Billerica, MA) rounded out the finishers to score an 89 (+19) to tie for 65th.

Worcester State will compete again this weekend at the two-day Hampton Inn Invitational hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
