Men's Golf Takes Home Ninth At Johnson & Wales Wildcat Invitational

Cranston, RI --- Junior captain Bob Bruso (Auburn, MA) propelled the men's golf team to a ninth place finish this afternoon in the second round of the Johnson & Wales Wildcat Invitational as he carded a two-day total of 147 (+5), just one stroke off the lead to notch third place. The tournament was held at the par 71 Cranston Country Club.

NYU won the team title with a 607 (+39) as the Lancers were just 47 strokes off as they swung a total of 654 (+86). WSC shot a 328 in the opening round and improved their total by two to end the invitational with a final day score of 326.

Bruso posted the second-best score in the opening round (73) before he settled for a 74 today. Bruso's total was one away from third-year David Su (Irvine, CA) of NYU and senor Jeff Santora (Millbury, MA) who tied for Medalist honors.

Freshman Chris Ellis (Charlton, MA) and senior Mike Leveroni (Arlington, MA) tied for 45th (167 +25) as they fired a 145. Ellis improved his total from yesterday by eight strokes while Leveroni shot five better.

The Lancers were rounded out by sophomore Ryan Walker (Hudson, MA) who was in 58th (173; +31) while junior Mike Horan (Billerica, MA) notched 72nd (185; +43).

The golf team continues its season when they host 16 teams at the Worcester State Invitational at Blackstone Country Club. WSC along with Salem State, MCLA and Westfield State will also compete for the first MASCAC Championship trophy in 20 years since the Vikings last hoisted the title in the 1989-90 season.
