Bruso Leads Lancers at Duke Nelson Invitational

Middlebury, VT --- Junior captain Bob Bruso (Auburn, MA) carded a two-day total of 146 (+4) at the Duke Nelson Invitational to help lead the Lancers tie for ninth at the par 71 Ralph Myhre golf course. Bruso led after the first round with an even par of 71 as he finished the tournament tied for second, just one stroke off of medalist honors.

The Lancers had a team total of 640 (+72) as they ended the event 32 strokes off of first-place Salem States total of 606 (+38). WSC also shot a 312 on the second day as they shaved of 16 shots from the opening round total of 328. There were 21 squads at the event hosted by Middlebury College that featured Division III teams from all around New England.

Freshman Chris Ellis (Charlton, MA) had a solid run as he tied for 28 with a score of 158 (+16). The other finishers for Worcester State included senior Dave Urella (Worcester, MA/Burncoat), junior Mike Leveroni (Arlington, MA) and first-year Chris Brunelle (Worcester, MA) who tied for 77th (170; +28 ), 83rd (171; +29 ) and 86th (172; +30), respectively.

This weekend WSC heads to Tuxis Plantation golf course in Farmington, CT for the two-day ECAC Division III Championships.
