Men's Golf Ties For Eighth At Worcester State Invitational

Sutton, MA --- Trinity senior Dave Anderson (Wellesley, MA) captured medalist honors as he fired a 70 (-2) to help lead the Bantams to the Worcester State Invitational golf tournament championship. Trinity shot a team-best 298 at the par 72 Blackstone National Golf Club this afternoon.

The Bantams were followed by Salem State who shot a 308 followed by Brandeis (320) and WNEC and Elms who tied for fourth with a score of 324. Westfield State and Nichols tied for sixth (327) while the hosting Lancers and Anna Maria were ten strokes behind with a 327 in eighth.

Leading the individual finishers were senior Jeff Santora (Millbury, MA) of Salem State and junior Bob Bruso (Auburn, MA) of Worcester State who tied for second (74; +2) while Trinity senior Reid Longley (Atlanta, GA), RIC rookie Kyle Garcia (Rehoboth, MA) and Salem’s fourth-year Nick Antonelli (N. Andover, MA) tied for fourth with a 75 (+3). Third-year Trip Wray (Walpole, MA) of Amherst, junior Charles Sacks (Pheonix, AZ) of Brandeis, sophomore Dan Korpita (Southampton, MA) of Westfield State and freshman Jack Pally (Pelham, MA) of Trinity rounded out the top 10 as they tied for seventh (76; +4).

Worcester State’s other finishers included freshman Chris Ellis (Charlton, MA) who tied for 27th (83; +11), sophomore Ryan Walker (Hudson, MA) who tied for 53rd with an 89 (+17). Senior Mike Leveroni (Arlington, MA) and junior Dan Duclos (Attleboro, MA) each knotted 61st (91; +19) to round out the scoring for WSC.

The Lancers continue their season with the Rhode Island College Invitational on Friday.
