Bruso Propels Men's Golf To Place 17th At NEIGA Championships

Brewster, MA --- Senior Bob Bruso (Auburn, MA) tied for 20th as he scored a two-day total of 152 (+8) to help lead Worcester State to the sixth best finish among Division III schools at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships held at the par 72 Captains Golf Course.

The Lancers shaved 12 strokes off their total from yesterday to take home 17th with a total of 642 (+66). 37 institutions from all three divisions competed in the two-day tournament held on two different courses. Two years ago the Blue and Gold also had the sixth-best Division III finish.

The University of Rhode Island won the team title with a score of 585 (+9) while Husson won the Division III title with a total of 613 (+37). Adam Vaccari of UConn won medalist honors as he carded a 143 (-1) in a playoff.

Bruso came in fourth among the Division III finishers to earn his third-straight selection to the All-New England team.

Senior TJ Magnell (Leominster, MA) wrapped up a stellar season with a 160 (+16) to tie for 73rd while classmate Chris Brunelle (Worcester, MA/Holy Name) shot nine strokes better this afternoon to tie for 80th with a 161 (+17). Sophomore Chris Ellis (Charlton, MA/St. Peter-Marian) recorded a 174 (+30) to tie for 152 as senior Dave Urella (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) cut 10 strokes off his total to tie for 160th (172; +32).

Brunelle also recieved a box of NEIGA balls this afternoon for winning the "Cosest to the Pin Challenge" on Sunday.
