Men's Golf Finishes In 13th At Johnson and Wales Wildcat Invitational

Cranston, RI --- Senior teammates Chris Brunelle (Worcester, MA/Holy Name) and TJ Magnell (Leominster, MA) both tied for 39th with a two-day score of 164 (+22) to help lead the Worcester State men's golf team to a 13th place finish on the final day of the Johnson and Wales Wildcat Invitational held at the par 71 Cranston Country Club.

Brunelle posted a 76 (+4) on the second day after a card of 88 in the opening round. His second-day total tied for the fifth-best score of the day while junior Nick Zolotas (Peabody, MA) won medalist honors.

Zolotas shot a 74 on both days and finished with a 148 (+6) as he helped lead Salem State to the team trophy with a score of 620 (+52). The Lancers tallied 674 strokes (+106) as a squad.

Sophomore Chris Ellis (Charlton, MA/St. Peter-Marian) tied for 53rd (168, +26) as Troy Johnson (Worcester, MA) equalled 77th (178, +36). Senior Mike Horan (Billerica, MA) rounded out the squad with a 181 (+39).

If the weather holds up, the Blue and Gold will host the Worcester State Invitational/MASCAC Championships tomorrow at Blackstone National in nearby Sutton. 18 squads are scheduled to tee-off at 10 AM.
