Men's Golf Places 16th At Williams Invitational

 

Williamstown, MA --- Sophomore Jeremy Ross (Holden, MA) tied for 44th with a two-day total of 164 (+22) as he helped lead the Worcester State men's golf team to 16th at the Wiliams Invitational this past weekend. The two-day event was held at the par 71 Taconic Golf Course.

As a team the Lancers finished with a score of 658, which was just 74 strokes off of the hosting Ephs. Williams won the team title with a cumulative sum of 584.

Ross fired a 78, just seven strokes off the lead before he added a final day score of 86.

Senior Dane Goolsky (Worcester, MA/Wachusett) tied for 71st (170; +28) improving his stroke total by six on the second day while sophomore David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) shrugged off a 95 in the opening round to finish with an 88 and settle for 85th (180; +38).

Freshman Jackson Davis (Spencer, MA) placed 86th (181; +39) and classmate Zach Poirier (Sturbridge, MA) finished in 91st (187; +45). Porier had the second-lowest score on the team on the final day of the tournament with an 83, just 12 strokes above par.

The Blue and Gold hit the links on Wednesday when they will head to the Elms Fall Blazer Invitational.
