Men's Golf Ends Season With Strong Showing At NEIGA Tournament

 

Brewster, MA --- Senior Dane Goolsky (Worcester, MA/Wachusett) fired a team-best score of 83 (+11) to tie for 78th as he helped pace the Worcester State men's golf team to a tie for 27th at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Tournament this afternoon at the par 72 Captains Golf Course.

The two-day event was shortened to a single day of competition with the impending storm and high wind expected to hit the area tomorrow. The Lancers, who tied St Michaels' with a score of 341 (+53) were only 30 strokes off of UMass Lowell and St. Anslelm's sum of 311 (+23).

More than 170 golfers represented 35 different Division I, II and III institutions at the prestigous event which has been held in nearly every year since 1934.

Worcester State was 14th among the 21 Division III schools in attendance and fourth among the seven schools in the GNAC. 

Sophomore David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) ended his fall season on a high note by equaling 87th with a score of 84 (+12).

Freshman Jackson Davis (Spencer, MA) and junior Jeremy Ross (Holden, MA) both tied for 127th (87; +15) while first-year Zach Poirier (Sturbridge, MA) tied for 158th (93; +21).

Today's match concludes the fall schedule for the Blue and Gold golf team.
