Seven Men's Golf Student-Athletes Earn GNAC Academic All-Conference Honors

Boston, MA --- Seven student-athletes on the men's golf team have been recognized with solid performances on the links and in the classroom as the team was announced by Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) publicist Dan Campagna this afternoon.

Representatives from Worcester State included senior teammates Erik Boos (Whitinsville, MA), Mark Evans (Ludlow, MA), Ryan Lavoie (Rehoboth, MA) and Eric Rutz (Mechanicsburg, PA) along with junior Brian Moskal (LaGrange, KY). The Lancer delegation was rounded out by sophomore Matt Collamer (Dracut, MA) and Luc Nietenbach (Bridgeton, CO).

To earn GNAC Academic All-Conference honors, one must maintain a 3.25 grade point average, complete one full season of competition at a GNAC institution and is a sophomore status academically.

The entire team was comprised of 757 student-athletes making up 13 full-time members and 12 affiliate institutions. Among affiliate schools, the Blue and Gold tied with Husson with the second-most, trailing Elms, who had nine.

Worcester State joined the GNAC this past season as an affiliate member to compete for the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

This past spring the squad capped off a tremendous season with 10th place at the Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational, third at the MASCAC Championships and second overall in the City Cup standings. All three competitions were hosted on the same day at Blackstone National.

Overall the men's golf team had 13 of 19 members achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better for a 3.22 GPA as a team.
