Men's Golf Places Ninth In Opening Round Of Johnson-Wales Invitational


Cranston, RI --- Sophomore Bryan Dunham (Tolland, CT) tied for 28th with an 82 (+11) to finish just nine strokes off the lead as the Worcester State men's golf team placed 13th as a team on the first day of the Johnson & Wales Wildcat Invitational held at the Par 71 Cranston Country Club on Saturday.

The Lancers scored 340 (+56) as a squad which is just 34 strokes off of leader Salem State (316, +32) and 16 off of fifth place Husson (324, +40).

Senior Joe Belanger (Holden, MA) equaled 34th (83, +12) and sophmore David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) was just behind in a tie for 43rd (85, +14).

First-year Zach Poirier (Sturbridge, MA) tied for 62nd with a 90 (+19) while freshman Brendan Dugan (Sutton, MA) rounded out the group knotted for 67nd (94, +23).

The Blue and Gold will compete in the final round of the Wildcat invitational later this afternoon.
