Dartmouth, MA --- Junior David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) hit 11 pars en route to an 82 (+10) to tie for 23rd overall as he helped lead the Worcester State men's golf team to equal 14th place in the first round of the Westport Hampton Inn Invitational hosted by UMass Dartmouth at the par 72 Allendale Country Club.
The Lancers are tied with Tufts with a score of 351 which is just 35 strokes off of Endicott and Salem State, who share the team trophy lead. WSU is also 17 scores out of the running to place inside the top 10.
Freshman Steven Ferraro (Leicester, MA) tied for 58th with an 88 (+16) while classmate Patrick Sharron (Boylston, MA) and junior Jackson Davis (Spencer, MA) equaled 66th (90; +18) and 69th (91; +19), respectively.
First-year Anthony Bement (Attleboro, MA) tied for 77th (95; +23) to round out the group.
WSU will wrap up the competition with a 1 PM tee-time.
